Diary (10.04)

2 min read Linus Hoßfeld (er/ihm)

On the first day, I started by shoveling soil from the street to the garden with four other people. Not only did I get to know new people, but I also learned how easy this task can be when a group works together well. While two people took turns pushing the wheelbarrows into the garden and one person swept up the leftover soil, I shoveled the soil with three others. This allowed us to finish our task in no time. After that, I repaired one of the pallet beds where the bottom had fallen out. Unfortunately, the wood was so rotten that I couldn’t simply use the old drill holes. Furthermore, the cut pieces were inaccurate and didn’t cover the entire bottom. To ensure the soil could still sit properly there and the board wouldn’t fall off again, I came up with an unconventional method for securing it with screws. In addition to the vertical screws, I attached two more screws at a 45° angle so that they prevent the main screws from falling out. I’m still proud of this idea. It taught me that problems in outdoor settings or in the garden require different approaches, since the starting conditions are completely different. I’m glad I managed to solve the problem anyway.
